This morning, Andre Levingston, who was installed as the President of the Premier Basketball League just this summer, has resigned the post effective immediately.
Levingston, on a press release issued by oursportscentral.com, stated professional differences as the reason for resigning.
"It has become clear to me that my vision for the league and that of the League owner were very different. I felt I was not given the proper tools in which to conduct business in the way I felt was best," said Levingston in the release.
You have to wonder the depth of that statement, and what the proper tools are. Levingston was the key cog in trying to get the Puerto Rico teams into the fold for this season, but as that fell through the league went in another direction and added Tony Chase to the mix as the CEO of the league.
This is all speculation, but perhaps Chase and Levingston had different views on the direction of the league.
Levingston said he had no hard feelings, and would continue to focus his efforts on building the fan base for his Halifax team.
Mike Brown, owner of the Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry, reacted to the news saying, "Andre is a stand-up guy and he did everything he said he was going to do."
A league conference call is scheduled for Wednesday.
More on this as the story develops.
